What personal data we collect and why we collect it

By default WordPress does not collect any personal data about visitors, and only collects the data shown on the User Profile screen from registered users. However some of our plugins may collect personal data. In such instances, the plugins active on Catalyst Coffee Company only collect essential, anonymous information to ensure they function correctly. Such plugins and features may include Google Analytics, our Contact Form, and the Social Sharing tools that enable you to connect and post our content on social media websites. We do not control what social media websites may collect from you separate from us.

Any potential sensitive, personal information we collect we do not sell, distribute, or share to any parties.

Contact forms

We collect your name, email, and comments via our contact form on our contact page. This information is sent to our email, where we have access to your name, email, and comments. We may keep this data indefinitely. In addition, we may add your name and email address to our marketing list. However, we do not sell, distribute, or share your personal information to external parties.

When you leave comments on our site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

For example, you may request we delete contact form entries from you or remove any testimonials that you might have previously provided permission for us to post.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service (Captcha). In addition, the data your submit via our contact form is sent to our email. Otherwise, the data that’s imprinted about you via Google Analytics or social sharing is as anonymous as we can make it. We personally do not send your data to any external party, but we cannot say the same for any plugins that we use on our website.
